Pinus nigra "Nigra" is a large evergreen conifer with a tall, broad conical to umbel-shaped habit. Pinus nigra "Nigra" flowers in May with inconspicuous, yellow male flowers and yellow-green female flowers that later turn purplish red, followed in autumn by hanging, broadly scaled, egg-shaped fruit cones. It prefers a warm position in full sun and a dry, well-drained soil.
