Acer palmatum

Acer palmatum, the Japanese maple, is the common species of which there are almost 1000 cultivars. It is a graceful shrub with a fan-shaped crown, slow-growing and especially popular because of its splendid autumn colours. The five to nine-lobed, deeply incised and serrated leaves turn a beautiful orange-red to purple-red colour in autumn. Beautiful as a solitary tree.
